This paper introduces a constraint framework for evaluating sediment movement through geological systems including the Himalayas of Nepal and Tibet, the Zagros Mountains of Iraq and Iran, the Canadian Rockies, the Andes of South America, and associated basin environments.
Observable constraints include sediment-thickness gradients, transport distance, depositional continuity, basin accommodation, structural confinement, and basin-margin organization.
Rather than emphasizing a specific depositional model, the framework focuses on measurable relationships that can be tested through stratigraphic, seismic, and geological datasets.
The resulting methodology provides a comparative structure for evaluating how basin systems interact with surrounding geological environments while maintaining bounded, observable constraints.
