Many of Earth's most recognizable geological features occur along structural boundaries. Examples include the Himalayan Orogen spanning Nepal, India, Bhutan, and Tibet; the Dead Sea Rift between Israel and Jordan; the East African Rift across Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania; and the trench systems of the western Pacific Ocean.
This paper evaluates structural boundaries through measurable geological constraints including relief contrast, basin confinement, fault continuity, gradient concentration, crustal transitions, and regional structural coherence.
The analysis focuses on observable geometry rather than specific tectonic interpretations. Structural boundaries are treated as measurable transition zones separating distinct geological domains.
Particular attention is given to the persistence of boundary expression across regional and continental scales, including the Andes margin of South America, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the Arabian Plate boundaries, and the Pacific trench systems.
The objective is to establish a repeatable framework for comparing geological boundaries using observable constraints that can be evaluated through topographic, bathymetric, seismic, and geological datasets.
