Mantle Response Patterns

The mantle is one of the most important candidate archives for Earth: Day Zero because it changes more slowly than surface geology.

If the event affected Earth at planetary scale, some portion of the response may remain detectable through deep mantle structure, density contrasts, and seismic velocity organization.

Observation

Mantle tomography reveals large-scale heterogeneity, including deep mantle provinces, velocity variations, and possible long-duration structural organization.

Constraint Analysis

A valid event reconstruction must explain whether mantle patterns are independent background structure, later convection products, or surviving event-modified architecture.

Signal Question

Can deep mantle structure retain measurable information from an early planetary event, and how would that signal be separated from ordinary mantle convection?

Verification Path

Testing requires independent comparison of seismic tomography, gravity data, mantle plume distribution, large igneous provinces, and surface reconstruction geometry.
