Mantle-Scale Forcing Implications
If a candidate entrance-domain structure exists at continental scale, its significance depends upon whether the associated forcing extends beyond the crust and into the mantle.
Large-scale planetary reconstructions require consistency between surface geometry and interior response.
Surface Versus Interior
Many geological structures are primarily crustal phenomena.
A Moon-formation-class event, however, would be expected to interact with multiple layers of the Earth system. Consequently, surface observations alone are insufficient.
Expected Interior Signatures
If a large-scale forcing event occurred, potential consequences could include:
- mantle heterogeneity;
- long-duration thermal anomalies;
- density contrasts;
- gravity anomalies;
- persistent structural asymmetries.
The presence, absence, scale, and distribution of such signatures become important constraints on the reconstruction.
Constraint Logic
A planetary-scale hypothesis should not rely exclusively on surface geometry.
The stronger expectation is that independent geophysical observations should either reinforce or weaken the proposed interpretation.

The Antarctic candidate entrance domain becomes substantially more informative if large-scale geometric observations correspond to independently measurable mantle-scale phenomena.
Future papers evaluate gravity signatures, structural relationships, and geophysical observations that may help distinguish between competing explanations.
