While sedimentary basins differ in age, setting, and geological history, many share observable structural characteristics that allow comparison through a common constraint framework.
This paper examines connectivity relationships among the Permian Basin (USA), Mesopotamian Basin (Iraq), Levant Basin (Eastern Mediterranean), Dead Sea Basin (Israel–Jordan), North Sea Basin (United Kingdom–Norway), and Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (Canada).
Observable constraints include basin confinement, structural continuity, sediment thickness distribution, margin relationships, accommodation space, and regional geological organization.
The analysis does not assume direct geological linkage between basin systems. Instead, connectivity is evaluated as a comparative structural concept based on measurable relationships and recurring geological characteristics.
This framework establishes a repeatable methodology for comparing basin systems across continents and geological environments while maintaining testable, observable constraints.
